Joi privacy policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
Joi is a private personal assistant used by Daniel Sinclair. It is not a public service. This policy covers the Google user data Joi accesses and what happens to it.
Which Google data
Joi connects to one Google account only: its own, [email protected]. It does not access anyone else's Google account.
- Google Calendar: Joi reads the events on its own calendar and creates events on it, inviting Daniel so he can accept them on his own calendar. It sees whether an invitee accepted, not what else is on their calendar.
- Gmail: Joi reads, sends and labels mail in its own mailbox. It does not permanently delete mail.
How it is used
Only to carry out what Daniel asks: book time, check its own email, and send email from its own address. Email to anyone other than Daniel is sent only after he confirms it. Google data is not used for advertising, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties except as described under Processing.
Processing
- To write a reply, the content of a message or email can be sent to Anthropic's Claude API.
- Pictures Joi makes are generated by Google Gemini.
- Both are used under their providers' API terms.
- Joi's replies reach Daniel through iMessage or Discord.
Storage
Everything Joi keeps is stored on one Mac, in Joi's own user account: a short conversation history (kept for 12 hours), reminders, logs, and the Google sign-in token, in a file only that account can read. Nothing is stored in a public database.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Joi's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Revoking access
Access can be removed at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, signed in as the account that granted it. Questions: [email protected].
